About The Position

The Technical Editor at Chegg, Inc. is responsible for editing a variety of curriculum materials across educational programs, particularly in tech and tech-adjacent fields. This role requires proficiency in a content management system and involves working with diverse content types, including long-form explanations, assessment instructions, and slide decks. The ideal candidate should possess strong editorial instincts and the ability to navigate complex technical content effectively.

Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate across functions

  • Experience with technical or scientific editing
  • Experience formatting code scripts or working with HTML, Markdown, or another programming language
  • Experience working with a version control tool or content management system
  • Experience doing quality assurance or providing quality assurance support
  • Experience writing or editing content in fields such as data analytics, data science, UX/UI, product management, project management, engineering, computer science, web design, web or software development
  • Experience working with project management software, like Jira
  • Experience writing or editing curricula, trainings, e-learning content, or instructional design materials

Responsibilities

  • Copyedit, proofread, and polish a variety of curriculum materials for educational programs in tech and tech-adjacent fields
  • Provide very light developmental or content editing support as needed to clarify text, ensure the language is accessible, and improve the narrative flow
  • Quickly understand and consistently apply the conventions in our house style guide
  • Help perform content production tasks and facilitate the migration of content, both written and visual, between our platforms and tools
  • Report and resolve discrepancies where documentation is incomplete or unavailable
  • Work in and navigate our ecosystem of project management and curriculum development tools as well as our production workflows; provide coordination support
  • Build assessment questions in our auto-grading, curriculum-building, and rubric tools
  • Provide quality assurance support, which includes a comprehensive review of how content is rendered within the student learning environment(s) to ensure all components of the curriculum behave as expected
  • Occasionally format code scripts or work with HTML, Markdown, or another programming language
