About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Vice President/Connecticut Licensed Environmental Professional to support our environmental operations, in our Shelton and Glastonbury, CT offices. Be involved in projects with our Earth and Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Provides leadership within a sector of organization to ensure environmental science subject matter, technical deliverables, and programs are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry and company standards. Responsible for SME innovation and administration; ensuring corporate compliance with all Local, State, and Federal environmental and safety regulations; and providing pragmatic direction to address current and future environmental science challenges in a rapidly-changing and complex business climate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related life sciences field.
  • 12+ years of experience in the environmental consulting field.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources.
  • Advanced proficiency with office automation and communication software.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing the review of documents and preparation of discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex environmental projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when.
  • Prepare and oversee relevant project budgets, monitor external events, track hours and expenses, ensuring profitability and satisfactory performance.
  • Supervise subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
  • Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the scientific discipline and function.
  • Develop business with existing and new clients.
  • Scope, budget and manage environmental projects, including Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Prepare proposals for various environmental projects.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary project teams in all phases of execution and delivery of siting and licensing for assigned business sector production projects.
  • Actively foster compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Environmental Science work.
  • Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
  • Assist with the preparation of an annual update to business tactical action plans.
  • Ensure that scientific discipline certifications, accreditations, and value proposition is developed and continuously improved.
  • Conduct needs analyses and client value surveys.
  • Schedule scientific discipline meetings, providing updates and recommendations.
  • Serve as a lead representative/liaison to external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, and Subcontractors.
  • Develop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics.
  • Interpret and summarize data to minimize impacts to the health of the environment and the population.
  • Develop a client base for providing high level Environmental Science services.
  • Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.
  • Remain current in latest environmental science techniques and practices.
  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
