As a Technical Director for Creator Collaboration at Roblox, you will define and lead the technical vision for how creators build together on our platform. This role is central to enabling real-time, large-scale, and high-performance co-development experiences within Roblox Studio—our state-of-the-art, cloud-based IDE designed for seamless collaboration. You will spearhead initiatives that drive the scalability, responsiveness, and user experience of tools like Team Create, our flagship real-time collaboration product. Your work will directly empower creators—from hobbyists to professional studios—to innovate and build together efficiently and enjoyably. Requirements

• 12+ years of experience building high-impact, consumer-facing applications at scale.
• Proven ability to design and deliver robust backend infrastructure as well as user-facing features.
• A BS in Computer Science or related field is required; MS/PhD is a strong plus.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams or organizations.
• Adept at building consensus, mentoring others, and communicating effectively with executive stakeholders.
• Prioritize the needs of end users, ensuring solutions are both technically sound and practically impactful.
• Highly adaptable and fluent in multiple programming languages and technologies.
• Deep understanding of the architecture of modern, large-scale systems.
• Expertise in front-end frameworks, performance optimization, and infrastructure design.
• Creative and strategic approach to challenges, simplifying complexity and bringing innovative ideas.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for collaboration features across Roblox's creator tools.
• Lead by example as a hands-on individual contributor while setting architectural and engineering standards.
• Write and review technical specifications for new features and improvements.
• Partner closely with engineering, product, and design teams to deliver seamless, intuitive collaboration experiences.
• Become an expert in Roblox's proprietary technology stack and ensure that all development aligns with long-term goals and best practices.
• Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, balancing innovation with execution.
• Represent Roblox in relevant industry forums and communities, acting as a technical ambassador for our platform.
