About The Position

This is a full-time position. Reporting to the Senior Engineer/Design Manager, the successful Technical Designer will ensure superior customer satisfaction through their positive attitude, as well as their technical and time management skills. TECHNICAL DESIGN Produce technical designs using Inventor or AutoCAD Produce files necessary for CNC production Populate Methods of Manufacturing in ERP system Ensure accuracy of dimensions, and ease of use and understanding of technical designs Provides all necessary technical information necessary to manufacture the products without further clarification Will validate and pre-plan with Plant Management Team on designs when needed Will record any recommendations for clear manufacturing process improvement Designs structural components as per necessary code so that engineering stamp process is simplified Questions manufacturing methods by optimizing structural components while not compromising on safety Always seeking improved manufacturing methods to improve competitiveness Works in conjunction with professional engineers to help optimize our designs Recommends engineering approval for any project he/she assesses as risky Prepares pre-sale attachments details and concrete bases Produce drawings according to standards, specifications and engineering requirements of customers Initiates or attends “job meetings" with the manufacturing team and the Project Manager to clarify the details of production Prepare Permit drawings & Packages for Permit application Problem solve with Subcontractors on methods of fabrication and/or installation METHODS OF MANUFACTURING Spends time in shop learning about how product is manufactured to help identify potential improvements in material and/or assembly Works with external suppliers to seek out better materials for our product designs In conjunction with the manufacturing and estimation teams, will seek out the proper manufacturing methods for the projects, always questioning the efficiency of such method. QUALITY ASSURANCE Seeks to find more efficient manufacturing methods based on materials, known plant processes and other PSG manufacturing methods Always questions existing processes for efficiency and accuracy IMPORTANT SHORT-TERM OBJECTIVES Learn the methods of manufacturing of the plant, always questioning whether there is a better way to design the products Learn manufacturing processes to become efficient and knowledgeable Technical Designer IMPORTANT MID-TERM OBJECTIVES Becoming independent Technical Designer Seek out ways to improve the quality of the designs Formal training with design software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, Corel, etc.) Ideal candidate should be competent with more than one design suite software.

Requirements

5 years design experience, fabrication experience is a plus
Experience with designing products for manufacture in similar industry
Strong mathematic skills
Solid interpersonal skills and an ability to work with others or independently.
Competency with Excel and Microsoft office package.
Excellent communication, organizational skills, problem solving and able to meet deadlines as required.
Ability to work autonomously with limited direction
Minimal in-process correction or need for clarification by shop personnel
Competency with Excel and Microsoft office package.

Nice To Haves

Solid understanding or interpretation of Building Code requirements for signage installation
Process training such as Six Sigma or similar preferred
