Technical Designer
About The Position
We are actively seeking a Technical Designer who creates and modifies detailed designs and drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineers. Checks completed design and drawings for clarity, completeness and conformity to standards, procedures, specifications and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Manages CAD files within global PDM system to support appropriate configuration control. Performs engineering data entry into company ERP. Contributes to design modifications in order to facilitate manufacturing operations or quality of product. Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECR/CN documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering support role
- Highly Analytical, Organized and Detail Oriented
- Familiarity with Engineering Drawing Standards
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling and drawing development
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Progressive Minded
- US Citizenship or the ability to work permanently in the US without sponsorship is required
Nice To Haves
- SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling experience
- Experience with identification of key characteristics on drawings
- Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, ASME, etc.) for documentation
- Experience with Sheet Metal design considerstions
- Prior experience using a Product Documentation Management system (SolidWorks PDM)
- Experience creating and maintaining data withing PLM/ERP systems (SAP, MS Dynamics, etc.)
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team and influence others to achieve project success
Responsibilities
- Work with project engineer to create 3D assemblies and detail parts based on conceptual layout.
- Performs routine Design/Drafting tasks, ensuring accuracy, consistency and conformance to Pfannenberg USA drafting and documentation standards
- Manages Engineering documentation utilizing the company Product Document Management (PDM) system
- Implements design/drawing changes via the site Engineering Change (ECR/ECO) process
- Accurately enters Engineering and Manufacturing data into company ERP.
- Create and maintain document records
- Meets objectives and follows a Personal Development Plan
- Support continuous improvement of all CAD/PDM processes
- Perform other duties as required
