About The Position
A Technical Designer is needed to support design-build projects by providing practical solutions for scenic fabrication, construction, and assembly. This role bridges client visions with physical execution, working closely with Project Management and Fabrication Teams to develop technical drawings and renderings that guide fabrication and installation.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in technical design for scenic fabrication.
- Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD 2D/3D, Vectorworks.
- Knowledge of scenic construction materials, including wood framing, carpentry, modular truss systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on experience with on-site installations for experiential, semi-permanent, and permanent retail spaces.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical design efforts from concept to installation.
- Develop detailed technical drawing packs for fabrication.
- Interpret client visions and recommend construction materials/methods.
- Coordinate with designers, fabricators, and project teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Troubleshoot and adjust plans as needed during construction.
- Support procurement efforts by defining material requirements.
