About The Position

As a Technical Designer with Gensler’s team in Washington DC you will support the design and delivery some of the most complex and impactful projects in the region. You will bring together design excellence, technical rigor, and strategic thinking to deliver architecture that is both deeply functional and experientially rich. You will work within a highly collaborative, client-focused culture that values design quality, resilience, and social purpose. What You Will Do Collaborate with a team of Architects and Interior Designers that bring design dreams to life through innovative problem solving and design best practices Produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members to ensure success Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces for a diversity of project types Develop drawings, details, and diagrams using Revit, and other tools as needed Support all phases of the project from conceptual/schematic design through construction administration Support coordination with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction Utilize hand drawings and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts Your Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program 0-3 years of relevant experience within a professional design firm Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred Experience in construction document preparation, construction administration, and field observation is preferred Proficient with Revit Proficiency with SketchUp, other 3D modeling software, and the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is preferred Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and collaboration skills Passion for design excellence and continuous learning LEED accreditation or WELL AP is preferred Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices This role is not remote or hybrid; we look forward to working with our new Technical Designer Junior team member in our dynamic Washington, D.C. office. The estimated base salary range for this position is $65-75k, plus eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, with final compensation contingent on relevant experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience within a professional design firm
  • Proficient with Revit
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Passion for design excellence and continuous learning

Nice To Haves
