About The Position

At MGM Resorts, creativity meets craftsmanship. As a Technical Designer and Estimator, you'll transform innovative ideas into precise, achievable plans-bridging the gap between concept and creation. You'll bring creative visions to life through detailed drawings, renderings, and cost estimates that balance design impact with operational feasibility. This role plays a key part in our in-house creative and production process-collaborating with designers, fabricators, and vendors to ensure that every build, installation, and activation aligns with MGM's world-class standards.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in event or theatrical, scenic design.
  • Proficiency in CAD or similar design software; strong understanding of event production logistics, structural safety, and spatial planning.
  • Ability to translate creative intent into executable technical drawings and solutions.
  • Skilled at explaining technical details to non-technical team members.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed technical drawings, floor plans, and 3D models for event setups, staging, lighting, and décor.
  • Collaborate closely with designers and the creative team to translate concepts into accurate, functional designs.
  • Identify opportunities for modular or flexible designs that can serve multiple venues and theming applications.
  • Use CAD or similar software to produce renderings and visualizations for internal and client presentations.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, paint, carpentry, and graphic teams to ensure designs meet structural, operational, and safety requirements.
  • Communicate with external vendors to confirm materials, measurements, and finishing details; conduct site visits as needed to ensure accuracy during builds.
  • Research and introduce new materials, techniques, and technologies that elevate aesthetics and optimize costs.
  • Support the creation of a technical design library-cataloging designs for future use, reference, or adaptation.
  • Serve as an MREP ambassador, maintaining MGM's reputation for excellence within the events and entertainment industry.
  • Contribute to department SOPs, safety standards, and training to ensure efficiency and consistency across projects.
