About The Position

About the Role Peloton is seeking a Technical Design Lead (L7) to serve as the mechanical and electromechanical architect for our next generation of hardware. This is a "zero-to-one" leadership role focused on emerging categories. You will sit at the intersection of strategic foresight and deep technical execution, transforming ambiguous customer needs into the tangible prototypes that will define Peloton’s future product roadmap. Your Daily Impact Architect Innovation: Lead advanced development for new hardware categories, defining system architecture, complex mechanisms, and structural direction for early-stage concepts. Bridge Vision & Engineering: Translate high-level product aspirations into rigorous technical briefs and Engineering Requirements Documents (ERDs) that prioritize safety, reliability, and manufacturability. Drive Cross-Functional Excellence: Act as the technical North Star for Product, ID, and EE teams, guiding them through complex trade-offs and delivering high-fidelity prototypes. Influence Strategy: Partner with external suppliers and internal leadership to conduct feasibility studies, providing the technical roadmaps and recommendations that drive go/no-go investment decisions. Mentor & Scale: Provide high-level technical mentorship to cross-functional teams, fostering an environment of rigorous engineering excellence during early-stage development.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of hardware experience with a focus on complex consumer electronics, load-bearing structures, and dynamic motion systems (sensors, motors, and cyclic assemblies).
  • A proven track record of navigating ambiguity, conducting early-stage feasibility studies, and converting "blue sky" ideas into validated technical pathways.
  • The ability to communicate complex engineering challenges to senior stakeholders and influence product direction through data-driven technical authority.
  • High competency in modern manufacturing processes, DFx, and tolerance analysis, ensuring that innovation is always paired with scalability.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
