About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Technical Design Agent (TDA) Electronics Specialist in Newport, Rhode Island. This technician is responsible for training and mentoring sailors and watch teams at the apprentice to master operator level. The specialist will maintain, transport and repair components of a complex naval submarine system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Knowledge of Navy and Maintenance Engineering Requirements: Understanding of Navy, major command, and other levels of maintenance engineering program requirements relevant to the development of scheduled maintenance needs.
  • Knowledge of Submarines, Surface Ships, and Weapons Systems: Familiarity with submarine and surface ship operations, weapons systems, and their operating requirements.
  • Ability to perform technical engineering services that effectively address real-world fleet needs.
  • Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain TOP SECRET Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and provide data to Engineers as part of the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process.
  • Contribute to system improvements by leveraging work experience and technical knowledge.
  • Review and provide input on new test procedures and related program documents.
  • Identify training gaps and create training products focused on improving those gaps in the submarine electronic warfare domain.
  • Assist the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) teams with Temporary Alterations (TEMPALTS), system certifications, modernization, and maintenance tasks at various Naval bases and shipyards.
  • Provide technical assistance for in-water test events, including logistics, rigging, and de-rigging of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot circuit boards, isolate faults, and perform necessary repairs, including replacing resistors, IC chips, and capacitors.
  • Overhaul systems, including electrical and electronic work, followed by physical reassembly (disassemble, sand, paint, and reassemble equipment).
  • Test systems on test stands to ensure they are Ready for Issue (RFI) and perform necessary repairs if they fail testing.
  • Assemble fiber optic connections.
  • Implement Engineering Changes (ECs) according to the instructions provided by Engineers.
