About The Position

Under the direction of the MIS Director, the Technical Deployment Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting a wide range of technical projects involving facilities, computer systems, network infrastructure, public safety equipment, and peripheral technologies. This position requires a strong blend of hands-on technical capability and project management expertise, including customer interaction, technical planning, vendor coordination, budget tracking, and execution of IT systems implementations. The role also supports routine technical service requests, acts as a subject matter expert on infrastructure design standards, and ensures the quality and timeliness of IT deliverables in a dynamic public-sector environment. The Technical Deployment Coordinator will provide project coordination work including meeting with internal/external customers, performing site walks, creating parts lists, scheduling and planning work, and coordinating with vendors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive field experience in technical project coordination and management, involving infrastructure deployment, systems integration, or technology implementation in operational environments (e.g., public safety, government, healthcare, or utilities).
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and technical diagrams.
  • Proven attention to detail and an investigative mindset for identifying and resolving installation or coordination issues.
  • Proficiency with project tracking tools, documentation, and administrative practices.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Any combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Telecommunications, Project Management, Construction Technology, or related discipline preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree is desirable but not required if offset by relevant experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Additional certifications in project management, IT infrastructure, or vendor-specific technologies are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Coordination
  • Conduct Internal Review Committee plan reviews on behalf of the MIS department with a heavy review and evaluation of technical systems. This includes drawing markups, comments, and feedback. Requires a demonstrated ability to interpret architectural plans, technical specifications, and infrastructure schematics with precision; ensures accurate translation into actionable project requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate technical infrastructure and systems projects, including new site setups and IT system rollouts.
  • Consults on IT closet layout and design, rack configurations, and component placement to ensure efficient, standards-compliant infrastructure design.
  • Conduct site surveys and create project scopes, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Drafts clear, concise written communications related to project updates, tracking sheets, project administration, and the use of project tracking tools to ensure timely and organized execution.
  • Coordinates and schedules internal MIS resources in support of project execution and timelines.
  • Identify project constraints and risks.
  • Participate in relevant project meetings with stakeholders, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment with technical and operational requirements.
  • Infrastructure Oversight and Implementation
  • Specify and oversee installation of components and systems such as structured cabling systems, access control, video surveillance, bi-directional amplifiers, audio/visual, radio/antenna technology, networking gear, and wireless systems.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, standards, and functionality of technical systems.
  • Communicates with County project leadership in consistent and timely manners to ensure MIS deliverables.
  • Applies a meticulous, investigative approach to identifying issues, validating installations, and verifying system performance; proactively uncovers discrepancies or deficiencies before they impact operations.
  • Vendor and Procurement Management
  • Obtain technology quotes on behalf of MIS, coordinate procurement, and manage MIS deliverables.
  • Act as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for MIS responsibilities during implementation, testing, cutover, and closeout phases.
  • Support Duties and Communication Responsibilities
  • Provide internal and external customer support where necessary. This includes County personnel and interfacing with external customers.
  • Must be able to perform physical installation tasks such as mounting equipment, installing cables, connectors, and be able to use hand tools, specialized industry tools, and small power tools.
  • The Technical Deployment Coordinator often communicates technical subject matter with non-technical users and therefore must communicate clearly in understandable terms. It’s critical that these communications are respectful, helpful, and encourage clear user understanding.
  • Carries a County cellular phone and responds to calls for assistance and outages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
