About The Position

Technical Color Representative Founded in 1919 as Phototype and recently rebranded as the Olberding Brand Family, we are a family company focused on delivering the highest quality and client service in the graphics design, management and printing industry. We Design, Optimize and Protect Brands. Our clients are primarily consumer products companies and printers and we help them by delivering a broad range of services from brand strategy and packaging design, to adaptive design across various print and digital platforms, all the way to color management and the production of printing plates. With our world headquarters located in Cincinnati, we have over 450 employees throughout the United States and offices in Europe. The Technical Color Representative partners with the Technical Color Manager on assigned accounts and is responsible for the execution of color and print related functions. The Technical Color Representative’s main focus is communication and coordination of deliverables, on-site and offsite press approvals, and review of printed materials. The Technical Color Representative may reside outside of our operational hubs.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel to client and/or supply chain sites, up to 75%
  • Understand prepress and production workflow for OBF
  • Thorough understanding of color theory, color management, and print technologies
  • Knowledge of contract proofing, proofing limitations spectrophotometers, colorimetry, measurement conditions, and use of equipment
  • Understand ChromaQA, ColorCert, ColorIQC, ColorMaster, GMG, MeasureColor, Mellow Colour, pressSIGN
  • Proficient use of Macintosh and Windows operating systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot root cause and best course of action when issues arise
  • Reasonably understand quality tools with the ability to support users
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Printing, Graphic Communications, or related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor with brands and their supply chain
  • Be the liaison between brand stakeholders and their supply chains including print suppliers, ink manufacturers, converters/fillers, etc.
  • Lead technical color and print discussions with brand and supply chain partners
  • Fingerprint/profile initiation, review, and validation to printer’s print conditions
  • Provide print supply chain partners with actionable feedback for improving quality
  • Press support and approval in either a remote environment or in physical attendance
  • Communicate and document press approvals to internal and/or external teams
