About The Position

Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for an unlimited, full-time Architectural Technology Instructor position in our Architectural Technology Department within the School of Design and Arts starting 2026 Fall Semester. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Provide quality teaching in assigned field of study to a very diverse student population in both lecture and laboratory settings. Develop and revise instructional materials for both lecture and laboratory courses. Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and College levels. Establish, cultivate, and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with instructors in the Architectural Technology Program, the Department’s administrators, academic advisors, support staff, and all College personnel. Participate actively in the College community through Architectural Technology Department and School of Design and the Arts meetings and College-wide committee work. Utilize campus technology to stay current in the Architectural Technology occupation and connect to faculty, staff, and students; and Participate in ongoing professional development activities and professional association memberships. Minneapolis College’s Architectural Technology program provides students with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills to design buildings with computer aided design (CAD) and building information (BID) technology from practicing architects. The college offers the following awards in Architectural Technology: Architectural Technology Diploma (55 credits) Architectural Technology Certificate (25 credits) Salary Range: $43,067 - $71,893 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023 - 2025 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential of Architectural Drafting/Technology
  • Education Requirement: Associate’s degree in architectural drafting/technology or a degree in architecture.
  • Occupational Experience Requirement: Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in architectural drafting/technology or as a license/registered architect.
  • Recency Requirement: One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement (to be completed within first three years of employment)
  • Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Architecture or related field
  • Occupational experience as an Architect.
  • Three years of demonstrated teaching experience in Architecture within a two-year or four-year college or university setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of International Building Codes (IBC), Residential Building Codes (RBC), 2024 Energy Building Codes, and sustainability practices in architecture (LEED) and associated social factors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of REVIT and Auto-CAD software programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in educational learning systems and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience developing and using student-centered, active, and experiential learning strategies.
  • Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery and assessing student academic achievement.
