About The Position

We are pleased to be hiring for a Technical Board Assistant & Ships Deck Superintendent, to join our growing Miami technical office in Supporting the Grand Bahamas Shipboard members in all topics and documentation relating to the assigned projects. In this exciting role, you will be required to report the various issues presented to the board, highlighting important points, and where needed, providing details of activities to support with following the day-to-day operations within the yard. This role will be required to join the board members with various meetings, or follow ups with the yard, summerising the key points addressed. You may also be required to represent the company with any meetings or specific events as instructed by the department. The job includes keeping contact with the shipyard management, understanding the different topics to be presented to the Board, and helping to keep a clear view of what is happening. For the different activities, as instructed by the Board Members, you may interact directly with the shipyard management or with the people working for the other shareholders of the shipyard, collecting information or discussing any open points addressed. In this role, you will also be required to collaborate and support the MSC Cruise Management Marine Operations Team's Naval Section, and for the Ship’s Deck Equipment, you will support with monitoring the vessel, spare parts and procedures, SMS documentation, Deck inspections, Hull, Ship’s Maintenance status and the Ship’s Dry Dock activities. This role will report to the Vice President General Manager MSCCTD USA, and for the operational reporting line, it will report to the MSCCM Senior VP Marine Operations Department/DPA, and the MSC Grand Bahamas Shipyard Board Members. This is a full time, office based position, based in our Miami office.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A good understanding of shipbuilding and ship repair processes, including Dry Dock activities, from a technical background
  • Ability to travel to the yard, where required
  • Proactive and Organised, with the ability to work both independently or within a team
  • The ability to understand complex situations and provide simplified explanations.
  • The ability to live and work in the US without restrictions
  • Must be able to travel without restrictions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in shipbuilding, refit, or technical project management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and checks correspondence, reporting and highlighting important issues raised.
  • Participates in various important meetings, supporting in the preparation notes or minutes.
  • Makes short summaries or internal reports for the Board Members evaluation when needed.
  • Visits the shipyard when needed to check activities.
  • Speaks directly with the shipyard management or other shareholders’ representatives when required, as instructed by the Board Members
  • Keeps contact with management and technical departments.
  • Ensures the required level of confidentiality and reliability of information.
  • Supports the Deck & Dry Dock Superintendent in Marine Operations Department.
