About The Position

Regions Hospital Laboratory is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Technical Bench Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. At Regions Hospital, you will work as a member of a technical team in the Clinical Laboratory. Our team has also been engaged in developing our new laboratory information system designed to provide efficiency and patient safety. Your work will support Regions Hospital as well as six other suburban hospitals and over twenty clinics in our network. As part of our team, you will: Perform laboratory tests in the section assigned. Assist in the implementation of methodologies. Participate in the training of new personnel or students. Assist in the development and implementation of training and competency programs for new personnel. This position is in our Regions Hospital microbiology lab. Our lab supports microbiology testing for the HealthPartners System. This position would be set-up and processing specimens for cultures and molecular testing, reading cultures, using Maldi, BD Kiestra Automation Line, BD Phoenix, and manual susceptibility testing. The lead tech will serve as a resource for other staff, and perform duties as assigned by the Technical Specialist or Laboratory Leadership in maintaining hospital and laboratory compliance with regulations. It is an expectation that the lead tech will work well in a team and be able to effectively lead that team as appropriate. Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, biology, or related field; successful completion of a Clinical rotation in an approved program that qualifies for ASCP, or equivalent. Advanced training and/or experience or master’s degree in a specialty area can be substituted for ASCP certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a MT or MLS with at least 1 year experience in the specialty area occurring in the last 4 years.
  • License/Registration/Certification: Certification with ASCP or equivalent agency or eligible preferred. Must meet Continuing Education requirements to maintain certification if applicable.
