To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a/an Technical Author located (Virginia, South Carolina or Texas). Reporting to the Director, Operations the Technical Author is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining accurate, clear, and user-focused technical documentation for critical power products and systems, including busway systems, switchgear, PDUs, RPPs, modular power PODs, and enclosures. The Technical Author plays a key role in supporting internal teams and end users through high-quality manuals, datasheets, service guides, and regulatory documentation that promote safe and effective use of critical power infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Electrical Engineering, English, or related field.
  • 2+ years of technical writing experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or critical power environment.
  • Experience working with hardware and/or electrical systems documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical standards (i.e. UL) and terminology.
  • Proficiency with authoring tools (MS Word, Visio).
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and managing multiple projects with deadlines.

  • Experience leveraging AI as a productivity tool within the scope of technical writing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Operation and Maintenance Manuals (O&M), Client Training Manuals, and other technical literature for customers.
  • Translate complex engineering and electrical concepts into clear, concise, and accurate documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work cross-functionally with subject matter experts including engineers, product managers, and service technicians to gather source material.
  • Ensure documentation complies with internal quality procedures as well as relevant standards (i.e. UL).
  • Generate Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation.
  • Maintain documentation revision control and version history in coordination with product development cycles.
  • Support the development of training materials, quick start guides, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Assist with localization and translation efforts for global documentation needs.
  • Explore ways to utilize AI as a productivity tool to enhance output and maintain consistency.
  • Engage with customers, sales leaders, and customer success functions to improve documentation content.
