About The Position

Are you tech-savvy and passionate about building community resilience? Footprint Project is seeking a Technical Associate to join our small, growing team! This position will support our technology department in assembling, managing and maintaining our fleet of mobile solar and battery microgrid infrastructure. We develop and deploy sustainable response technologies to community resilience centers after climate disasters in the U.S. Footprint Project works across the disaster management cycle to expand frontline access to mobile microgrids and reduce fossil fuel use. Visit www.footprintproject.org to learn more. JOB DETAILS Location: On-site at our warehouse in Metairie, LA. Workplace Policy: This position is 100% in-person at our office-warehouse in Metairie, LA. Job Type: Full-time exempt. Schedule: Monday-Friday within the hours of 8am to 6pm local time for a total of approximately 40 hours/week. During the Atlantic hurricane season (6/1-11/30), employees may be asked to work outside of their normal hours. Time can be flexed after responding to disasters. Compensation: Starting at $45,000 / year depending on experience. Requirements

  • College Degree (Associates or Bachelors), or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in electrical, construction, metalwork, HVAC, STEM, plumbing, warehouse management and/or related climate survival skills.
  • Sufficient computer skills - ability to use common communication and reporting software and platforms.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • This is a physically demanding position that requires you to be able to lift over 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical experience in solar and battery storage system design, installation, operation, maintenance and training.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and towing trailers.
  • Experience with CAD and computer modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, mobilize and demobilize mobile solar generators with disaster response partners, volunteers, and community resilience organizations.
  • Support day-to-day technical operations and field service requests.
  • Provide technical support to a range of org-wide programs and projects focused on long term recovery/resilience.
  • Compile, manage, and maintain equipment documentation (manuals, guides, spec sheets) and end-user agreement and waivers.
  • Coordinate with outside donors, vendors, suppliers, clients, and implementing partners.
  • Generate and implement technical focused ideas for systems, programs, and operational improvement.
  • Uphold standards of personal and organizational safety, and maintain a neat workspace.
  • Build Power. Hack together mobile solar generators with integrated appliances, using a diverse range of microgrid system components and hardware.
  • Fill gaps: support team members on administrative and organizational tasks.
