About The Position

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension. The position is for a Technical Associate I in Microscopy at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Microscopy Core Facility (KIMCF). The role involves providing support for a microscopy satellite facility and being trained and supervised by the KIMCF Director to staff the biology satellite core facility independently. Responsibilities include training and supporting users in microscope operation and techniques, ensuring data quality and management, assessing equipment needs, performing routine quality controls, scheduling maintenance and repairs of equipment, reporting on progress and issues at internal and external meetings, ensuring compliance with safety standards/procedures, and performing other related duties as required, including work performed at lower levels, when necessary. The KIMCF serves approximately 90 groups engaged in cancer and other research across campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biological, physical sciences, engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a research laboratory environment (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate).
  • Self-motivation and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with microscopes and imaging software.
