About The Position

The Technical Associate I position at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (KI) - Manalis Lab involves joining a team that operates at the intersection of single-cell measurement technology and immunology/oncology. The project focuses on exploring how biophysical states of cancer cells influence interactions with immune cells. The role includes performing routine data collection using advanced microfluidic sensor instrumentation to enhance understanding of cell intrinsic mechanisms of resistance to immune therapies. Additionally, the position requires executing precise measurements with specialized in-house instrumentation to compile data on single-cell biophysical profiles, conducting routine maintenance of the instrumentation, preparing samples for analysis using techniques like flow cytometry, and performing basic cell culture tasks under stringent laboratory conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biological/biomedical, mechanical, or chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant lab experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate.
  • Proficiency with standard wet-lab techniques, including pipetting and centrifugation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with sensitive measurements and delicate instrumentation.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, collaborate within a team, and commit to the timely delivery of research results.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cell culture techniques.
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry.
  • Proficiency with data analysis using MATLAB and/or Python.
