About The Position

The Technical Associate I position at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (KI) - Langer Lab involves joining the Jaklenec Group to develop injectable drug delivery systems for vaccines and therapeutics, with a focus on mRNA-lipid nanoparticles. The role includes designing, fabricating, and characterizing drug delivery materials, as well as conducting rigorous testing using animal models. Responsibilities include the fabrication and characterization of lipid nanoparticles using techniques such as DLS, TEM, NMR, zeta potential analysis, and HPLC. The position also involves assessing mRNA stability and loading capacity, administering injections (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intraperitoneal) in mice and rats, and performing in-vivo imaging while analyzing bio-samples (blood, tissue, organ homogenates) using qPCR, ELISA, and fluorescence imaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, material science, engineering, or related field.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant lab experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate.
  • Willingness to work with animals.
  • Experience in drug delivery, biomaterials, molecular biology, or related fields.
  • Robust documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with histology.
  • Experience with flow cytometry.
  • Experience with micro molding.
  • Experience with lipid nanoparticle synthesis.
  • Experience with drug delivery material characterization.
