Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2 to 3 years of experience.
  • Solid understanding of basic mathematics.
  • Comprehend both written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including the use of email, online forms, web-based training.
  • Flexibility to work a non-standard schedule.
  • Experience in a laboratory animal setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical setting.
  • AALAS Certification at the ALAT level or higher.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic husbandry, handling, restraint and health surveillance of laboratory animals in compliance with local regulatory requirements.
  • Provide daily record keeping of common laboratory species and their environments.
  • Provide basic technical assistance (i.e., restraint, injections, bleeds) to other technicians and researchers.
  • Perform routine animal husbandry and welfare duties as directed.
  • Supply appropriate food and water for animals housed in the vivarium.
  • Clean and provide animal housing and associated materials/equipment within assigned animal rooms.
  • Observe and report status of animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, behavior.
  • Provide support in animal health monitoring and basic veterinary medical treatment as prescribed by the veterinary staff.
  • Observe and record vivarium environmental conditions.
  • Perform sanitation duties within assigned animal rooms and vivarium areas.
  • Maintain and perform housekeeping of facility support areas.
  • Support cage wash equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Support research by providing basic technical services (restraint, dose administration, blood collection) to research investigators.
  • Take responsibility for individual contributions to achieve team deliverables.
  • Manage personal time and professional development, being accountable for results.
  • Follow standard procedures to complete tasks of varying scope, sequence, and complexity within the agreed timeframe.
  • Identify and solve moderately routine problems.
  • Complete assignments with moderate supervision using established procedures.
