Executive, Legislative, and Other General Government Support

Under general supervision, provides technical support for the Studio at Cedar and assists in the technical support for the museum's exhibitions and programs across its facilities. This role is responsible for maintaining and installing the museum's technical equipment, audio and visual production, and technical programming.

  • Install monitors, projectors, speakers, and other audio equipment as needed per exhibition.
  • Record, edit and mix audio tracks (instruments, vocals etc.)
  • Enhance sound quality and add sound effects to recordings.
  • Play backing tracks and special effects during live events.
  • Set up and test sound equipment before events, broadcasts or recordings.
  • Capture quality video footage from a fixed or moving position.
  • Shoot scenes according to requirements.
  • Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience.
  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film.
  • Edit and synchronize video with audio tracks.
  • Constantly improve image quality using various editing methods.
  • Select, assemble and position equipment (cameras, stands, lighting, jibs, etc.)
  • Arrange objects, scenes, lighting and background to adhere to specifications.
  • Prepare cameras and test angles or camera movements.
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry's best practices to maximize efficiency.
  • Perform set-up; calibrate, operate, monitor, and maintain television broadcast equipment to produce, switch, receive, record, edit, and reproduce the DTV color television signal, in compliance with FCC rules and regulations.
  • Conduct functional and operational tests of uplink and broadcasting equipment; evaluate quality and performance of video and audio reception, production, and transmission over internet.
  • Create rough and final cuts.
  • Edit content using appropriate software.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Ensure all published content meets quality standards.
  • Use and maintain modern and traditional technical equipment.
  • Keep track of developments in digital technology.
  • Work with the production team ensuring all members are in sync with the program's requirements.
  • Liaise with crew about technical requirements (e.g. lighting and camera movements, sound recording requirements, vision effects and graphics and transitions).
  • Resolve technical or practical issues when they arise.
  • Incorporate creative ideas to achieve the best possible visual result.
  • Maintain an in depth understanding of photographic best practices and procedures.
  • Create and maintain sound libraries.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable
