The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Team Leader, or designee, the Technical Assistant assists technologists, nurses, and physicians with diagnostic imaging and/or other exams. The Technical Assistant escorts patients, prepares imaging equipment and the associated room, prepares the patient for the appropriate imaging exam, and notifies the technologist, radiologist, and/or clinical team when the patient is ready for their exam. May assist the technical staff in implementation of new and/or changes in procedures and takes an active role in helping to maintain an effective and efficient workflow. The Technical Assistant may also place reminder calls to patients and assists with scheduling, as needed. The Technical Assistant performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient population(s) served. Employee will maintain competency skills including the ability to communicate with diverse cultural backgrounds, identify safety concerns and institute measures to deliver safe transportation. They adhere to Cedars- Sinai Health System Corporate Compliance Plan, Code of Conduct, departmental policies and procedures, and follow Job Hazard Analysis Protocols. TEE Management: Electronically run OR and CVIC schedule and identify cases where TEEs will be used and cases that need TEE on standby. Coordinate flow of equipment in OR and CVIC rooms for TEE cases. Go into patient charts and release complete TEE orders and get probes to rooms for corresponding cases. Set up ECHO machines with probes and patients’ information from work list and ensure patent data is matched and accurate with order. If there is no TEE order for procedure being done, the Technical Assistant will obtain the order. Obtain and transmit images from the CVIC and CV OR. Prepare and format images in PICOM for MD to read. Support NIC Nursing as needed HLD-High Level Disinfection. Process and HLD probes as needed.
