About The Position

Meta Wearables is looking for a Technical Artist to join the Product Creative team. Product Creative uses artistic and technical skills to create the vision and experiences that make Meta Wearables trend-setting, distinct, and loved by customers. This role centers on bridging the gap between art and engineering. The individual in this position is responsible for developing and optimizing shaders and render pipelines to deliver high-quality assets while maintaining efficient performance. They actively engage in coding and scripting, not only to implement production features but also to create and enhance internal tools that streamline workflows for the broader team. A significant part of the role involves performance profiling and optimization to ensure that real-time experiences run smoothly. Collaboration and communication across disciplines are essential, as this person works closely with both artists and engineers to translate creative visions into practical, technical solutions. This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys multidisciplinary teamwork and thrives on both creative and technical challenges.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience developing real-time experiences
  • Understanding of architecture for complex tools and pipelines
  • Expertise in at least one high-level programming language (ie. C#, Python)
  • Experience with game/real-time profiling and optimization techniques
  • Experience with optimizing performance
  • Experience in shader languages (ie. GLSL)
  • Demonstrated expertise with at least one of the following pipelines: Rigging, Runtime Behaviors, Shaders or Asset Pipeline
  • Expertise working with version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.), using advanced workflows
  • Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Practical experience with giving and taking constructive feedback, directing next steps, and communicating clear goals and outcomes to your team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Game Engines (ie. Unity or Unreal)
  • Expertise in at least one low-level programming language (C++ preferred)
  • Experience with coding in Kotlin and Android development
  • Interested and informed about emerging technologies
  • Product minded with a focus on the end product

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams and disciplines across several programs, partnering closely with engineering and design teams to develop experiences across a range of devices
  • Self-manage deliverables, timelines and deadlines, and communicate updates to program managers and stakeholders
  • Quickly solve issues with cross-functional leads
  • Prototype, profile and optimize custom shaders
  • Implement runtime logic within a complex real-time environment with performance limitations in mind
  • Utilize broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety of technical and artistic tasks, including diagnosing and fixing bugs
  • Design, manage, and maintain the pipeline from artists through to deployment
