The Technical Architect in Information Technology at NewYork-Presbyterian is responsible for performing multiple complex technology activities that support major information systems throughout the organization. This role requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Credential or Badge Integration to lead the planning, design, and implementation of secure and scalable ID badge solutions. The position demands deep expertise in identity and access management (IAM), physical security systems, and integration of ID badges with various software and hardware platforms, including access control and HRIS systems.

  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to assigned systems and provides technical informational support to Information Services staff and end users.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and implements complex systems including development, testing, configuring, and installing to support application systems and software applications.
  • Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
  • Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives, and formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies.
  • Evaluates existing systems and user needs, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Provides technical training to appropriate staff and maintains current knowledge of the field.
  • Acts as a 'Trusted Advisor' and develops solution strategies that support product growth and agility.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand integration needs and ensure end-to-end solutions.
  • Ensures compliance with physical and logical security policies and regulations.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex integration and performance issues related to badge systems.
  • Assists in vendor evaluation and selection of badge printers, readers, and related technologies.
  • Documents system configurations, integration flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Trains support staff and end-users as necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or related work experience.
  • 6-8 years of related work experience.

  • Strong understanding of badge technologies (e.g., RFID, smart cards, NFC, QR codes).
  • Experience with directory services (e.g., LDAP, Active Directory, Azure AD).
  • Experience integrating with HRIS and ticketing systems (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow).
  • Familiarity with security compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST).
