Technical Aide Vendor Drawing
About The Position
The Vendor Drawing Technical Aide candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and data integrity of the 3G Document Control system for updating the Ship’s Drawing Index (SDI) for VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA for all activities associated with processing vendor drawings. Job responsibilities include the following: Dispositioning vendor information requests (VIR’s) in a timely manner Reviewing vendor drawings to ensure compliance to applicable Ship Specifications Assisting Engineering where necessary during the approval phase, functioning as a liaison with Supervisor of Shipbuilding for vendor drawing approvals Preparing correspondences to vendors concerning their drawings Requesting approval from the Government Receiving and reviewing drawings to ensure compliance with approval letters
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- Working knowledge and familiarity with MS Excel, Power Point and Word
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents
- Understanding of design products; drawings and change documents
- Entering information (data) into a computer system
- Well-developed verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to complete work accurately while meeting schedules - attention to detail is essential
- A team attitude and be willing and capable to work well with other team members and other organizations
- A willingness to adapt as position requirements change and accept reassignment within the organization based on workload needs
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with mainframe computer applications
- Experience in administrative or clerical work
- Submarine Design and Construction processes
- Experience or understanding of configuration management principles is considered a plus
