About The Position

Responsible for performing technical responsibilities relative to assisting cardiothoracic surgeons with the instrumentation of Open-Heart surgery, as well as assisting in the preparation and management of tubing’s utilized by the heart-lung (pump) machine.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of a surgical tech program that is accredited by a national accrediting organization or a successor organization or must have successfully completed a training program for surgical tech administered by the US Public Health Service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard.
• Minimum of two (2) years scrubbing experience in a major operating room, and at least one (1) year of experience as an Open-Heart Scrub Technician.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Current BLS certification.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
• Employees hired into this position prior to 1/1/2018 are exempt from certification requirement.
