Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology; associate's degree preferred.
  • Licensure: 1. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; or Graduate from a four year degree college with a CNMT Licenses BLS Required
  • Skills: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas. Must possess a positive and courteous attitude, and take the initative to go beyond what is expected in a teamwork environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's chart and previous examinations for consistency (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis), and records pertinent data at all times.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Use diagnostic imaging techniques to detect and map radioactive drugs in the human body.
  • They administer radioactive pharmaceuticals to patients, then monitor the characteristics and functions of tissues or organs in which they localize.
  • Responsible for the operation of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine and the performance of all Nuclear Medicine procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision.
