About The Position

Performs standard and complex Electroencephalography (EEG) and Evoked Potential (EP) recordings and/or monitoring. Assists physician with Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Velocity (EMG/NCV) exams. Requirements

  • Graduate of program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years Recent hospital-based experience in EEG, EP and EMG/NCV technologies.
  • American Board of Registration of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET) registration.

Responsibilities

  • Adapts procedures and recording techniques to unique situations appropriately.
  • Assists in movement of patients to/from wheelchairs, gurneys and exam tables.
  • Assists physicians during EMG/NCV procedures.
  • Assists with equipment maintenance/troubleshooting.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new staff.
  • Calibrates equipment for routine and complex procedures.
  • Files recordings and assists with general clerical tasks as needed.
  • Notes clinical phenomena occurring during tests and documents appropriately.
  • Obtains EEG/EP recordings according to standards.
  • Performs routine tasks necessary for maintaining a clean, safe and efficient work environment.
  • Prepares patients for bio-potential examinations and applies electrodes per standards.
  • Recognizes and eliminates causes of electrical interference.
  • Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide performance improvement program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, performance improvement and planning activities.
