About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing all required laboratory testing procedures including, but not limited to, blood specimen collection, determining validity of results, quality control analysis, maintenance of accurate records and maintaining equipment. Responsible for interpreting and troubleshooting patient results. The following is a summary of the major job functions; perform all required testing in various sections of the clinical laboratory according to policy and procedures; perform and document results of quality control and maintenance, taking necessary corrective action as prescribed by written policy; collect specimen, process specimens and prepare specimens for testing or referral as prescribed by written policy; assist physicians and other hospital personnel with interpretation of test results; ordering and taking outpatient orders; responsible for ensuring a clean work area and adequate supplies (restocking of inventory); must be able to perform problem solving or troubleshooting as outlined by lab policy. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor that are not listed below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science from accredited college and 2 years of laboratory experience or associate degree from approved program in Medical Technology
  • ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologist) certified as MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician), or equivalent, such as AMT within first 6 months of hire date
  • Must have the ability to read, write and learn a computer system.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in obtaining laboratory specimens from all age groups.
  • Must have good verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Must have commitment to team operation with customer service spirit.
