What You'll Do (Position Description) The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Nurse Manager and Registered Charge Nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living. MHT's will conduct regular safety checks on patients, assist in facilitat ing patient groups, assist nurses in the admission and discharge process, and support patient groups or one-on-one . Successful candidates must demonstrate leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment , flexibility for reassignment to various units/ populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients , and must know and comply with all confidentiality laws and regulation, e.g., HIPPA . MHT's should also demonstrate respect and understanding of patients, as well as be able to effectively engage with all levels of stakeholders, including our CEO and CNO, various departments, patients and their families. The work is performed in a hospital/inpatient behavioral health setting , therefore, there exists a potential for exposure to environmental hazards and contagious diseases, exposure to crisis/emergency situations, and exposure to all infectious diseases including HIV/TB/Hepatitis, blood and body fluids and needle sticks .
