About The Position

The Mental Health Technician position is a PRN/As Needed role that requires the individual to maintain patient cleanliness, assist with daily living skills, and deliver quality nursing services to all patients. The technician must be able to recognize and report changes in patient behavior to other team members, demonstrating good observation skills. The role is set in a fast-paced behavioral health hospital environment with frequent interruptions, necessitating effective oral and written communication skills, as well as knowledge of telephone etiquette. The technician must interact positively with patients, families, co-workers, supervisors, and other hospital employees, adapting to changes in information processing. Good judgment is essential for making recommendations in the best interest of the hospital, along with the required visual acuity for patient observation and physical agility to manage patients. Proficiency in reading and writing, along with strong organization and time management skills, is necessary, adhering strictly to facility time and leave policies. The hours for this position may vary based on staffing needs and can include day, evening, and weekend shifts or a combination of shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience within a behavioral health or hospital setting or any combination of education and related experience preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Good observation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
