Requirements

  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Must possess one of the following: 2 years’ experience providing patient care, EMT Certification, Medical Assistant Certification, High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Skills Day.
  • Maintain current BLS.
  • Handle with Care certification current.
  • Attends 80% of departmental staff meetings.
  • Attends required in-service trainings.
  • Demonstrate proper Infection Control procedures by consistently using standard precautions.
  • Presents a neat, professional appearance consistent with the hospital dress code.
  • Complies with local, state, federal and JC standards and guidelines.
  • Adheres to safety policy and procedures to promote safe work practices.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures specific to position/department.
  • Maintains proper boundaries when interacting with patients and their families and co-workers.
  • Seeks direction or clarification from Supervisor when necessary.
  • Treats patients with respect according to patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Communicates in a positive, compassionate and professional manner with patients, staff and visitors.
  • Checks all mail and correspondence and responds to requests in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates 'cultural competence' by awareness of cultural differences and the impact of one’s own personal and professional values and attitudes on the values and attitudes of others.
  • Complies with hospital attendance policy.
