About The Position

Lead propulsion technology / architecture studies and the design of innovative electrified propulsion system concepts Identify strategic electrified propulsion opportunities, help define portfolio priorities, and provide technical direction for Ford's advanced propulsion projects Identify key technical challenges and develop system solutions that improve cost, attributes, and robustness for new xEV technologies including EVs, EREVs, PHEVs, FHEVs, and FCEVs. Set & guide direction for propulsion system & vehicle development, leveraging virtual and physical prototypes to achieve attribute goals Mentor and teach engineering team on electrified propulsion architectures, systems, technologies, operating principles, and analysis methods Develop and secure electrified propulsion related IP to protect Ford's business and gain a competitive advantage Ensure technical integrity and quality of department technical efforts and products, provide guidance and internal alignment Established and active employee resource groups Proven technical leadership with deep electrified propulsion knowledge and a systems engineering mindset Detailed understanding of xEV architectures, hybrid propulsion operating principles and strategies, propulsion sub-systems, hardware and control systems, vehicle attributes and vehicle simulation The ability to navigate environments without prescribed paths or solutions, and work collaboratively across multiple domains & teams to deliver new solutions Master's or PHD degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar Engineering field 15+ years of experience in electrified propulsion systems and advanced xEV development Demonstrated expertise in propulsion architecture design, system sizing, and advanced propulsion development Familiarity with vehicle control systems and propulsion calibration Expertise translating attribute needs into powertrain requirements, identifying alternatives, & conducting system trade-offs Track record of electrified propulsion innovations & maturing technology from proof-of concept to technology readiness and/or production Ability to extract key insights and convey complex technical topics clearly to senior leadership For more information on salary and benefits, click here: https://fordcareers.co/LL5SP1 Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Requirements

  • Established and active employee resource groups
  • Proven technical leadership with deep electrified propulsion knowledge and a systems engineering mindset
  • Detailed understanding of xEV architectures, hybrid propulsion operating principles and strategies, propulsion sub-systems, hardware and control systems, vehicle attributes and vehicle simulation
  • The ability to navigate environments without prescribed paths or solutions, and work collaboratively across multiple domains & teams to deliver new solutions
  • Master's or PHD degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar Engineering field
  • 15+ years of experience in electrified propulsion systems and advanced xEV development
  • Demonstrated expertise in propulsion architecture design, system sizing, and advanced propulsion development
  • Familiarity with vehicle control systems and propulsion calibration
  • Expertise translating attribute needs into powertrain requirements, identifying alternatives, & conducting system trade-offs
  • Track record of electrified propulsion innovations & maturing technology from proof-of concept to technology readiness and/or production
  • Ability to extract key insights and convey complex technical topics clearly to senior leadership
