As a Validation Tech Lead (Test Advisor & Technical Lead), you will set the vision and strategy for testing ASI's portfolio of robotic and autonomous systems. This is a senior role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of hands-on technical leadership, process development, and team mentorship. You will help ASI standardize test practices, strengthen compliance, and deliver validated systems that are safe, reliable, and deployment-ready. This role requires expertise in complex system testing, HIL/SIL environments, and validation methodologies, alongside the leadership skills to guide teams, review work, and ensure traceability from requirements through to functional safety certification.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in verification, validation, test engineering, or related fields.
- Master's degree in STEM or related discipline (non-STEM considered with significant test leadership experience).
- Proven expertise designing and managing test strategies, processes, and analysis plans for complex systems.
- Mastery of system engineering principles, requirements traceability, and test compliance (ISO, IEC, safety standards).
- Deep experience with HIL/SIL testing, test instrumentation, and simulation environments.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with requirements and test software tools (e.g., Jira, JAMA).
Nice To Haves
- Master's or PhD in robotics, AI, or related discipline.
- Experience validating robotic, embedded, or autonomous systems.
- Familiarity with Git, ROS/ROS2, and programming in Python and/or C++.
- Knowledge of embedded systems and communication protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI).
- Industry experience with heavy machinery (agriculture, construction, mining, logistics, energy).
Responsibilities
- Develop SOPs, workflows, templates, and test aids to standardize and scale validation across ASI's product portfolio.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for verification and validation, advising leadership on test strategy, standards, and best practices.
- Advise and mentor test teams, providing technical guidance, training, and support for career growth.
- Oversee test review and approval processes, including coordinating test plan reviews, scheduling and execution of validation efforts, report reviews, and fielding recommendations.
- Lead the creation and sustainment of comprehensive test plans, suites, cases, and reports.
- Establish and maintain requirements traceability across the product lifecycle to ensure compliance and verification.
- Guide design and execution of experiments, data collection plans, and analysis of test data for trends and key metrics.
- Advise on test infrastructure including HIL/SIL, test instrumentation, proving grounds, and simulation environments.
- Support the development and prioritization of automated testing tools for scalable and repeatable execution.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and introducing industry best practices.
