Job Summary: Performs electrical apparatus work onsite at customers facilities, which is normally a festival grounds, sporting event, or concert venue. This includes electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. The position will also inspect, maintain, diagnose, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and overhaul all components related to diesel engines in Generators. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Candidate must be flexible to travel for show site prep as needed; load in and load out. The job can involve working outdoors, in industrial environments, confined spaces and/or heights. Candidate must have a general understanding of Diesel engine mechanics, basic repairs, fuel systems and trouble shoot. Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams Perform inspections, diagnostics, testing, repair, overhaul and maintenance on industrial diesel engines, electric-diesel power generators, natural gas power generators, industrial gaseous engines, alternators, AC generators, motors, gearbox's, power transfer switches and paralleling switchgear. Perform load bank testing on power generators. Perform major engine overhauls and rebuilding of industrial diesel engines and industrial machinery. Safely operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment. Order needed parts and supplies. Pull cable. Maintain complete and accurate computerized and/or written records of time, materials, parts and work performed on assigned projects. Provide work direction and guidance to assigned workers and ensure that work is performed consistent with established company standards. Communicate clearly and work cooperatively with customers, supply vendors, manufacturer representatives, product engineers, and technical support. Properly maintain and operate company vehicles and rental equipment. Maintain a clean in-shop work area and properly maintain assigned company vehicles. Attend both local and out-of-state training and safety courses. Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws governing safety, discrimination and hostile free work environment. Able to assist in the following tests: Transformer testing – Power Factor, TTR, Insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance and leakage reactance Cable testing – Insulation resistance, Tan Delta, VLF, Hipot, TDR and cable thumper Low, medium, and high voltage circuit breaker testing – insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection tests, and vacuum bottle integrity tests Test both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment Participates in safety meetings and training The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list; other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations
  • Ability to assist in complex mechanical and electrical problems
  • Must have strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office
  • Must be willing and capable of working with your hands and working in the field
  • Must be willing to take emergency calls outside of the normal workday
  • Must be able to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • Must be willing and able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town jobs
  • Work hours vary from project to project
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, education verification, motor vehicle report, physical abilities test and an approved hair and urine drug screen
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and must have or be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
  • Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 10 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E and CPR training

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical/Electronic Technology Degree is preferred but not required
  • Military experience is preferred but not required
  • CDL license preferred
