Summary of Essential Functions Performs general, non-technical duties under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist. Transports and treats assigned patients. Maintains equipment, assists licensed therapists, performs clerical and miscellaneous duties as needed. Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Licenses and Certifications CPR Certification. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Personality that shows care and concern for people, positive attitude, flexibility/adaptability to change, and an interest in acquiring new knowledge. Acute/Hospital or nursing home patient care/experience preferred Physical Requirements Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Potential for musculoskeletal injuries due to moving/lifting equipment and patients: potential for exposure to infectious process. Duties and Responsibilities Applies and operates department equipment according to department standards. Maintains a safe, clean and secure environment with well stocked supplies and properly functioning equipment. Prepares patient and treatment area according to department standards and/or as outlined by the therapist. Safeguards, motivates and assists patients practicing exercises and functional activities. Observes patient’s responses during treatment and reports quantitive data to the appropriate personnel. Assists in compilation of statistical data including charges and other items as assigned. Participates and/or assists in department performance improvement activities. Assists therapists as requested. Performs all other tasks/responsibilities and necessary.
