About The Position

Description Summary of Essential Functions Responsible for routine and emergency care on all patients while they are in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Assists in maintaining professional standards of patient care and in teaching technical aspects of procedures to other staff. Performs exercise and chemical stress testing with and without radionuclides under the direction of a physician. Produces recordings of ECG variations during stress testing, monitoring blood pressure and patient condition during stress testing. Performs other duties their individual registry or certification allows as requested by the management. Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Licenses and Certifications BCLS, Basic Arrhythmia and ACLS which must be taken in the first six months of employment. IV Conscious Sedation should be taken in the first month of employment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Minimum of one year of special procedures or critical care experience. Ability to concentrate on moderate detail with some interruption. Must be able to relate specific ideas generally, several at a time and remember multiple task given at one time or over a period of time. Physical Requirements Moderate amount of lifting and positioning of patients and equipment as well as, transportation of patients via cart or wheelchair. Ability to stand for long periods of time as well as walking and sitting; see small objects, have good eye-hand coordination and hear normal sounds with background noises. Subject to electrical, radiation and biohazards. Working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to make knowledge based adjustments of imaging procedures, equipment, contrast mediums and best positions to obtain images.
  • Utilize hospital computer system to meet department/patient needs.
  • Verifies correct patient by patient’s armband and medical record number.
  • Reviews the patient’s chart to verify the physician’s order.
  • Understands supplies and equipment and their compatibility with one another to include but not limited to IABP, Angio Jet, IVUS & pressure wire.
  • Able to scrub diagnostic, interventional and pacemaker procedures.
  • Independently take appropriate action for hemostatis.
  • Maintains knowledge of medications most commonly used in practice area.
  • Observes for possibly reaction and able to treat appropriately.
  • Practices proper radiation safety.
  • Rapidly recognizes arrhythmias and hemodynamic changes.
  • Able to properly identify: leads corresponding to coronary system, right and left heart pressures and waveforms & oxygen saturations.
  • Able to transcribe data and generate reports accurately.
  • Assist patient teaching regarding all cardiology related procedures.
  • Works overtime when needed.
  • Able to assist in Pre and Post areas.
  • Accurately accounts for procedures and supplies used on each patient and demonstrates cost effectiveness in ordering and/or use of supplies.
  • Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
