About The Position

Buffalo is a unionized manufacturing facility of ~400 employees. It is a unique site comprised of a Cereal Plant, Flour Mill & Grain Elevator with a rich history of 100+ years of performance and innovation. The Buffalo plant is both geographically and strategically positioned to support our business segments and continues to evolve to meet the growing and dynamic needs of the customer. The Operations Supervisor will provide manufacturing leadership to deliver a world-class operation. Operations Supervisors lead, motivate, and develop employees to achieve outstanding manufacturing results, while leveraging Continuous Improvement (Lean/TPM) tools, improving individual skills, and enhancing teamwork. This position will initially cover 12-hour shifts (5am-5pm) and transition to 8-hour shifts, rotating on a weekly basis – days (6a-2p) and afternoons (2p-10p) in the next 6 months. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1+ year of manufacturing or frontline leadership experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Success in driving results through process and teamwork
  • Proven success reducing losses and improving performance in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated technical capability and knowledge of unit operations and machinery (at least one production platform)
  • Skilled at communicating between work groups, cross-functional resources, and other members of the plant
  • Foundational knowledge of data analysis systems (examples: SAP, Maximo, Manufacturing Analytics, MQIS) and decision making for results

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree (Technical/Science/Engineering preferred)
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Educate, develop, and motivate a manufacturing work group to achieve required production results, improving individual technical skills and enabling collaboration across boundaries.
  • Ensure that production facilities and finished products meet the company and government standards for quality, sanitation, and safety.
  • Establish and sustain sound relationships with all employees to foster an environment where innovative methods are used to involve others in creative solutions to issues.
  • Provide business leadership which demonstrates commitment to department and plant objectives on a day-to-day basis.
  • Facilitate, coach, counsel, and guide the manufacturing work group to ensure that they can deliver results year over year using continuous improvement tools and strategies.
  • Function as a technical resource in areas of system operations and product requirements
  • Facilitate the effective interchange of information between work groups, cross-functional resources, and other members of the plant and corporate teams.
