About The Position

The Sous Chef serves as the primary operational partner to the Team Chef and the day-to-day culinary lead within the clubhouse kitchen. This role is responsible for overseeing meal execution, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring kitchen operations run smoothly. Operating in a high-performance professional sports environment, the Sous Chef functions as a true second-in-command, combining advanced culinary skill with leadership, organization, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Experience in a professional kitchen environment, preferably high-volume or performance-driven
  • Strong culinary foundation with demonstrated leadership responsibility
  • Ability to manage service execution and kitchen operations independently
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working non-traditional hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and game days

Nice To Haves

  • Food safety certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of daily breakfast and lunch service aligned with performance nutrition objectives
  • Oversee à la carte service for players and clubhouse staff
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation across all food service areas
  • Act as the on-site culinary lead during designated meal periods if the Team Chef is unavailable
  • Maintain oversight of food quality, freshness, and safety across all stations, including deli and salad service
  • Enforce kitchen standards related to sanitation, organization, and food handling
  • Identify and address quality issues in real time to uphold clubhouse expectations
  • Partner with the Team Chef on menu planning, refinement, and seasonal adjustments
  • Assist with development and testing of new menu items
  • Maintain accurate recipe documentation to support consistency and scalability
  • Oversee daily food preparation, including protein fabrication and scratch cooking
  • Ensure proper portioning, labeling, storage, and rotation of all prepared items
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of walk-in coolers, prep areas, and service lines
  • Support ordering of proteins, paper goods, and kitchen supplies through approved vendors
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs, shortages, or risks proactively
  • Assist with receiving, storage, and quality checks of delivered products
  • Model professionalism and accountability within the clubhouse kitchen
  • Support training, guidance, and coordination of kitchen staff as needed
  • Uphold all kitchen policies related to food safety, hygiene, and operational standards
