About The Position

We're seeking a Team Nurse to join our dynamic team at Optime Care, where your expertise will directly contribute to improving health outcomes for patients with complex, chronic conditions and rare diseases. This role offers the opportunity to oversee and implement clinical support, education, and follow-up with patients and physicians while working alongside industry leaders in specialty pharmaceutical services. Our Team Nurses are advocates for patients in their assigned programs, conducting new-patient welcomes, helping them obtain insurance coverage and financial assistance, and providing case management services. This position requires an active Compact License to support patients nationwide. This position will be required to be in the office for the first 120 days for training purposes. It can then evolve into a hybrid role, depending on business needs. What this position will focus on: Being a clinical expert: You will be a clinical go-to person for the program and assist with communicating with team members, patients, their physicians, and their insurance providers. Being an educator: You will be helping people understand the medication, its uses, and adverse effects, and sharing the information with the care team. Being a guide: You will use your experience to help guide people through the entire care journey to ensure the patient receives the treatment they need.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience with utilizing and developing patient assessments and questionnaires.
  • Ability to assess and advise patients via conversation.
  • Knowledge to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, nurses, and physicians.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational plus interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the insurance process.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Relentless attention to detail, and the ability to be a creative self-starter and team player.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • The ability to function in a leadership capacity.
  • Reasonable knowledge of technology and information systems, and software applications such as text documents, slide presentations, spreadsheets.
  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree is required, preferably an RN.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of nursing.
  • Specific experience with pediatric patients and weight-based dosing of medications is required.
  • Holds a compact nursing license and is willing to obtain other state licenses as requested by leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Appeals and case management experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a specialty pharmacy is a plus.
  • Direct patient experience with oral, subcutaneous, and/or IV medications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, assess, and conduct clinical educational support for patients and physicians
  • Act as a patient advocate to gain insurance coverage for prescribed therapies.
  • Conducting new patient welcoming and creating a patient profile, including insurance information.
  • Conduct periodic insurance verification and/or authorizations for patient coverage.
  • Manage escalated dormancy cases as needed.
  • Perform any necessary case management services.
  • Build clinical services as required or needed by leadership.
  • Communicate with prescribers, including requesting new prescriptions.
  • Assist patients with financial assistance, as needed.
  • Assist in preparing any ad hoc report requests from clients.
  • Monitor external websites relating to therapy areas
  • Obtain necessary consent forms for manufacturers or patient support organizations
  • Serve as a mentor for new team members
  • Monitor any program metrics
  • Participate in clinical education via telehealth technology in pilot programs or programs the company has scaled.
  • Document clinical services as required
  • Interpret data as required to support improvements in programs or patient care.
  • Summarize clinical work and success stories to be used in reporting with clients, as needed.
  • Monitor and collect patient satisfaction results for the program and share them with leadership and team members
  • Collect and report any Adverse events reported by patients as outlined in SOPs
  • Other duties as needed or assigned by the business
