About The Position

The Hospitality Team Member provides students with nutritious, high-quality meals in a friendly and efficient manner. This role is responsible for final preparation of food, active service during lunch periods, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness across the entire kitchen facility. Responsibilities: Back of House (Prep & Support) - 25% Assist the Lead Cook with basic food preparation and setting up for lunch service. Set up steam tables, salad bars, small wares, POS stands, and serving lines, ensuring all equipment is at the correct operating temperature. Assist in unloading deliveries and organizing the walk-in cooler, freezer, and dry storage using the FIFO (First-in, First-out) method. Service Duties (Front of House) - 60% Serve students during lunch periods with a focus on speed, accuracy, and positive interaction. Follow standardized recipes and use correct serving utensils to ensure consistent portion sizes and minimum waste. Maintain a clear understanding of the day’s menu to answer basic student questions regarding ingredients (e.g., “Is this Gluten Free?”). If required, operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, ensuring student accounts are charged correctly. Sanitation & Cleanup – 15% Operate the industrial dishwasher and manually wash pots and pans as needed. Empty and sanitize steam tables, salad bars, and milk coolers. Participate in a scheduled deep cleaning of ovens, refrigerators, and storage shelves. Complete daily checklists and temperature logs for the dish machine, coolers, and freezers.   • Required Experience: No previous experience required
  • The ability to switch between tasks quickly and efficiently based on daily needs and unexpected circumstances.
  • Show initiative to provide the best customer service possible.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift cases of milk, produce, etc.
  • Ability to work quickly under the pressure of a timed lunch rush.
  • A friendly, patient demeanor when working with children, teenagers, and staff.
