About The Position

Provide direct support and training to individuals with disabilities in a Community Based Day Center (OPTS), at supported employment sites and in an on-site hourly model of employment. Train, mentor and coach direct support staff in developing and implementing individual and group activities in the community, at supported employment sites and in the center. This position works in conjunction with Case Management, Program Director, and Career Services to promote an individual’s readiness for community-based employment and performs activities related to employment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years’ experience in working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and the internet.
  • Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings.
  • Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and other agencies.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Must be fluent in English and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals under supervision, employees of the organization, families, and members of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-the-job training and supervision to individuals in a 1:1 or group format at community-based locations, businesses, and CBDS/OPTS center.
  • Guide direct care staff in the implementation of curriculum and activities designed to enhance skills and prepare individuals for work.
  • Train new staff and relief staff in program routine, schedules and general workings of the program and/or employment sites.
  • Provide written job assessments, complete daily behavior data, and daily completion of payroll sheets. Review staff’s documentation for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Work in cooperation with the Case Manager to establish and implement employment and behavioral objectives. Act as a role model for staff in the implementation of objectives and behavioral plans.
  • Represent RTR well with families, referral agencies and host companies by displaying a positive, professional and proactive attitude always.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for individuals under supervision establishing behavioral limits in a positive consistent manner and in accordance with behavioral plans.
  • Provide transportation to job sites and community activities as needed.
  • Cooperate and interact with coworkers, individuals, volunteers, and funders in a collaborative, courteous, empathic, and professional manner. Demonstrate willingness and ability to be part of a team effort.
  • Participate in the Positive Behavior Support initiative.
  • Assist and support individuals as needed with physical direct care. Assistance may include physical or mechanical transfer to a van, chair, toileting, etc.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Adhere to all program routines and schedules.
  • Dress in a manner that reflects the corporate culture of the specific business in which the individual or individuals are placed.
  • Adhere to agency safety standards.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and provide coaching to new coworkers as directed.
  • Perform additional duties, or substitute for others as required.
  • Adhere to all RTR policies and procedures.
  • Develop and provide all services in accordance with RTR’s mission.
