Department: CC019550 Purchasing/Receiving Job Description Summary: Position Responsibilities Reviews and updates policy and procedures on an ongoing basis to ensure the most effective and efficient process. Coordinates the activities of the Supply Chain Distribution department. Reviews staff's work activity to ensure conformance with current procedures, pertaining to the supply scan system. Communicates with Senior Operations Manager on a daily basis in order to stay abreast of the constant changes in Supply Chain Distribution workload. Supervises or delegates supervision of the documentation relating to all order for patient care products from Nursing in order to assure daily that the Medical Center's patients are charges are processed properly and patient needs are meet utilizing supply scan system. Supervises or delegates supervision for the handling of special request for products to be stocked in Supply Chain Distribution and be readily identified when products are required for patient care. Reviews or delegates the open purchase order file, on at least a weekly basis, for overdue and back ordered shipments in order to prevent stock outs and other problems related to late or back ordered products or services. Monitors Central Service inventory for out of stocks and month end variances. Reporting of significant concerns to Senior Operations Manager. Conducts periodic inspections of storeroom and areas for supply scan distribution supplies throughout the Medical Center checking supply expiration dates in supply scan stations. Monitors and provides solutions to ensure in the management of incoming and outgoing supplies with particular attention being given to sterile trays. Makes routine rounds to departments to ensure that the best service possible is provided to customers service thru the supply scan system. Manages systems/controls for proper utilization and distribution of supplies and participate with the coordination of Supply Chain Distribution formal year-end physical inventories. Evaluates staff performance prior to due date as required. Interviews and selects new employees to meet departmental needs. Promotes growth and development of personnel by assisting with educational seminars and in-service programs. Ensures quality control checks are conducted in all supply scan stations to ensure supplies are maintained and station is neat and organized. Responds willingly to special assignments as requested and deadlines are met. Recommends changes to update and improve the function of the department and the supply scan system. Meets all deadlines for projects assigned by management. Conducts all Mount Sinai Medical Center business with vendors and customers in a highly professional and ethical manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years related healthcare experience and strong interpersonal skills responding with a focused approach to problem solving.
  • Must have a strong interpersonal skills working with all levels of staff in a complex environment.
