About The Position

This position is responsible for for ensuring proper chemicals are dispensed in a safe manner, ensure processing equipment and surrounding areas are kept in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition through proper cleaning techniques. In addition, this position is responsible for supporting the Process Team leader in managing, directing the processing team and ensuring proper training of sanitation personnel.   The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the process area along with having to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperative for the person to conduct oneself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1+ years related experience and/or training
  • Must be able to perform math functions (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages)
  • Must be able to tell time and read a standard and digital clock
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot or cold temperatures and wet and slick floors
  • Must be able to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on sanitation equipment
  • Must have manual dexterity in both hands
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in a safe and proper manner
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Must be able to use up to 50 pounds of push/pull force needed to push/pull barrels weighing up to 450 lbs using a rolling device
  • Must be able work with and around hazardous chemicals wearing appropriate PPE
  • Must be able to maneuver in close quarters, at heights and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must meet the standards on Fall Restraints as stated in WAC 296-155-24510 Fall Restraint, Fall Arrest Systems.
  • Must become qualified within 45 working days of employment in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of moving equipment and other potential safety hazards in a production plant.
  • Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.
  • The individual in this position must exhibit initiative, creativity, and self-motivation. This person will be required to demonstrate an ability to maintain an awareness of current operating conditions in order to constructively generate action.
  • Strong leadership skills, positive work relationships, and effective coaching are key ingredients to the success of the Sanitation Team Leader and the process team.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn and perform the duties of Sanitation.
  • Ensures ability to monitor sanitation personnel to ensure they are performing cleaning tasks, and maintaining work areas in accordance with food safety, chemical safety and proper cleaning techniques and procedures.
