About The Position

CentraState Medical Center currently has an employment opportunity available for a Team Leader. Administers nursing care to assigned patients that is in accordance with ANA standards, the NJ Practice Act, SPAN, Joint Commission and establishedhospital and Nursing Department policy and procedures in accordance with evidence based nursing practice. Facilitates patient care for surgicalpatients by managing, coordinating, and monitoring resources to achieve optimal clinical and financial outcomes, resource utilization and quality service.Assists manager in planning, directing and supervising the overall operation of the assigned nursing unit on a 24 basis. Functions as a clinical resourceand educator to unit/department staff members in area of expertise. Works within the department and as a part CSHS management team tooperationalize the patient care and service goals and objectives established by senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of RN experience in Endoscopy required.
  • Flexibility for On-Call based on staffing required.
  • Current NJ RN License required.
  • CGRN certification required within 1 year of hire
  • CPR Certification required.
  • ACLS Certification required.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications as needed following CSHS policies and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Takes immediate and appropriate actions in the event of a medication variance occurrence.
  • Recognizes adverse reactions to medications and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and/or emergencies situations and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Makes decisions that demonstrate knowledge of nursing practice; utilizes sound nursing judgment in clinical and patient care management situations.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in the care of patients and in the coordination of care to assure the achievement of maximum outcome.
  • Assists in the development of department PI plans and reports.
  • Continually assesses and improves the care/services provided.
  • Maintains and updates Doctors' Preference Cards as needed.
  • Participates in meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Stays aware of departmental operations and recommends changes where necessary to optimize the quality of patient care and services provided.
  • Assesses patient needs, plans and delivers expert nursing care to selected patients on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrates an ability to organize and incorporate new routines, procedures, and skills.
  • Works with surgical services educator to establish an orientation and education plan for the specialty service and updates as clinical practices change.
  • Participates with clinical educator in meeting learning needs of nursing staff.
  • Develops team-focused interaction among peers and staff.
  • Prepares and maintains policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a technical resource person.
  • Directs and/or performs troubleshooting of equipment and/or procedural problems including equipment repair.
  • Maintains adequate and appropriate inventories of supplies.
  • Manages and utilizes time efficiently.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper documentation.
  • Reports any unusual occurrences, situations, or hazards to appropriate personnel.
  • Participates in interdepartmental development of clinical pathways specific to specialty.
  • Identifies and submits potential non-capital equipment/supply needs.
  • Maintains open communication among surgeons and nurses.
  • Supports cost containment efforts of the hospital through conservation of supplies and care of equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining current knowledge and competency in areas of specialization.
  • Acts as preceptor to new employees as necessary.
  • Scrubs in for cases as needed, following AORN protocols.
