About The Position

The Team Leader at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is responsible for providing direct patient care and overseeing the daily operations of the clinical team. This role emphasizes leadership, clinical supervision, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure optimal patient outcomes in rehabilitation services. The Team Leader will also engage in staff development, mentoring, and program development, contributing to a culture of excellence in patient care and employee engagement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology program.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in Michigan.
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in a relevant clinical rehabilitation setting.
  • Possesses and demonstrates expertise in a specific diagnostic area of rehabilitation.
  • Maintains CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with government reimbursement systems and regulatory bodies related to service line.
  • Competence in relevant software and hardware required for job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of license and regulations.
  • Evaluate patient conditions and establish treatment goals and plans.
  • Delegate responsibilities to assistants and rehabilitation technicians as appropriate.
  • Re-evaluate patient status and revise treatment plans as necessary.
  • Document patient status and progress according to standards set by regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions to integrate therapy treatment plans.
  • Instruct patients and families in therapy procedures and home programs.
  • Provide education and training to staff and serve as a resource for patient care.
  • Manage staffing in alignment with inpatient census and ensure compliance with therapy intensity requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for interviewing and selecting candidates for open positions.
  • Facilitate the annual employee review process and provide coaching to direct reports.
  • Manage patient case assignments and ensure clinical standards of care are met.
  • Maintain therapy equipment and supplies, initiating requests for repairs or replacements as needed.
