About The Position

The Team Leader Equipment Operator (TLEO) provides crew leadership and participates in the skilled inspection, cleaning, maintenance, testing and repair of the City's water/sewer/stormwater systems using heavy equipment (backhoe, dump truck, vactor truck, etc.) and other specialized tools and equipment (CCTV, smoke and dye testing, etc.) and performs other maintenance work as required. The TLEO works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. The TLEO may work independently or lead a team in daily activities. The TLEO will lead a week-long spot on the on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend tasks. The TLEO reports to the Supervisor-Collection Operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment operation.
• At least two (2) years of experience in utility construction and/or pipe laying.
• Collections Certification level 'D' or ability to obtain one within one (1) year from initial date of employment.
• Valid South Carolina Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within six (6) months from initial date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled inspection, cleaning, maintenance, testing, and repair tasks.
• Develop work methods and sequences under general supervision.
• Lead a team in daily activities or work independently as required.
