About The Position

As the RN Team Leader in the Emergency Department at Riverside Medical Center, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and leading nursing staff to deliver high-quality patient care in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will oversee clinical operations, ensure adherence to best practices, and support staff development while fostering a collaborative team atmosphere. Your leadership will help optimize patient flow, enhance team performance, and maintain a safe, efficient care environment. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years Emergency Services experience
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • TNCC or TNS within 18 months
  • ENPC within 24 months
  • ECRN within the 24 months. Only ECRN's can answer the EMS communication radio.
  • Mental Health First Aid or Crisis Prevention Institute Certified (CPI) within first year of hire
  • PALS within the first year
  • ACLS within the first year
  • New Graduate RNs starting on or after 1/1/25 must earn Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 3 years of start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
  • Professional nursing certification in area of specialty preferred
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, providing guidance and support in clinical decision-making.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and facilitate communication among the healthcare team.
  • Monitor patient flow and ensure timely assessments and interventions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
  • Assists pre-hospital providers, law enforcement officials as needed. Demonstrates knowledge of ED law and regulation and follows the chain of command.
  • Address patient and family concerns, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Clinical skills to be performed but not limited to: suture, sterile pack set-ups, wound irrigations, IV initiation with/without blood sampling, insertion and maintenance of indwelling catheters, NG insertions, chest tube maintenance, assisting with procedures such as lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, intubation, splinting and immobilization of extremities, etc.
