Supervises production operations within a single production or service department on multiple shifts or multiple production or service departments on a single shift according to established priorities and schedules. Directs the first or second level supervisors within production. Accountable for providing effective direction and coordination of all production activities of the assigned operations. Takes appropriate action to maximize production yields, plans for future capacity and maintains flexibility in the production operations needed due to the variance of raw materials received. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team-oriented workforce in order to improve business results. Direct the processing activity in the plant which includes supervision of the hourly work force in planning, equipment operation and repair, materials usage, scheduling of operations, training, etc. Responsible for the quality, safety and sanitation in the plant. Coordinate and implement the planned sanitation and housekeeping program to ensure the environment meets company and federal standards. Train and supervise subordinates in safety and accident prevention practices. Administer plant and human resource policies to assure satisfactory employee relations. Work closely with Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Warehouse and Maintenance personnel, as well as other Production Supervisors on shift. Must ensure, in controlling various production operations, steps are taken to remain in compliance with USDA and FDA food laws, company policies, and be familiar with laws that govern the Company's conduct with its employees (EEO, OSHA, etc.) Must be familiar with factors affecting recovery, grade yields, labor costs, labor utilization and material waste. Knowledge of the function and basic operating characteristics of each piece of equipment under his/her control is necessary for proper control of quality and grade of product being produced and packaged. Necessary adjustments are recommended to operators, and line settings are made to maintain the highest level of productivity. Responsible for proper training of all personnel and assuring that operators recognize discrepancies and make adjustments and/or repairs prior to any appreciable loss of productivity occurring. Other projects and/or duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • 3 years’ experience in food processing environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train and teach others.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or three years related experience; Biology, Food Science, or another related program preferred.
  • Process Quality certification required.
